Taking Some Time Off

I haven’t touched a weight, performed a push-up, or executed one plyometric movement in about five days! This is a big deal for me since I never go more than a day or two without an intense training session; but after better than a year of operating in that manner, my body was beginning to feel the effects of overtraining–fatigue, joint pain, up and down motivation, etc.–so I knew that meant it was time for a break…a significant one.

My plan is to get back at it Monday, giving me roughly 10-days of rest and relaxation to heal, recharge, and regroup. It’s tough for me to do,
as my training is as much about getting my mind and mood right as it is about upgrading my body, but it’s also a necessary evil if I want to continue down this road with any measure of success.

In the meantime, I’ll spend my time catching up on chores, reading, studying, and reassessing my goals for when I do slip on the training shoes again.
